When Dave Edwards was just a teenager, he met a young evangelist at his church named Billy Walker. By the end of the revival, Dave had told Billy he felt the Lord leading him to work in ministry with the Billy Walker Evangelistic Association. For the better part of 12 years, Dave would do just that. Serving on staff at Hiawatha Youth Camp, he became the music director for both the camp and crusade ministry. Eventually Dave would help form the Dave, Bob and Mark trio, and begin his own solo ministry. He would propose to his wife of nearly 50 years, Irma, on the hearth of the fireplace in the dining room (now sweet shop) the summer they served together. They would form a duet partnership that would continue to be favorites of Rally’s, HYC and Piatt Lake for decades to come. Both of their children Liz and David would serve on staff as well. While life and ministry would take the family to Florida, Dave was always right at home slipping behind the organ on the stage at camp. He will forever be part of and at the heart of the ministry of Hiawatha.
