Hiawatha Youth Camp (HYC) was founded in 1964 by Rev Billy C Walker, who led the ministry until 2010 when his son Craig stepped into the role of Director.
Craig and Lora Walker have been married for 30 years and together have 3 children in their 20s - Morgan, Mason, and Maxston. Their daughter Morgan was born with Angelmans Syndrome, a genetic birth disorder that affects her mentally and physically. Though her need for constant care has been challenging at times, it has made their family unit strong.
Craig has a degree in youth ministry from William Tyndale College and Lora has a degree in Intercultural Ministries from the Moody Bible institute. They have a desire to see young people come to know Christ and develop a lasting relationship serving Him.
Craig and Lora share a passion for preparing the staff with leadership and ministry skills so they can make sure each camper has a lasting experience.
